Charinee Mitchell, enters her first season on the Lady wrangler coaching staff. Mitchell served as a Graduate assistant and director of basketball operations for 2 years at her former school of play; Southeastern Louisiana University.
After a solid junior campaign with the Lady Lions in her first season out of Paris Junior College, Mitchell had a breakout senior campaign in 2008-09. Starting all but one of the 30 games she appeared in, Mitchell averaged 8.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest. Mitchell hit a team-high 54 three-pointers a season ago, helping Southeastern set a new single-season Southland Conference record with 220 three-point field goals as a team.
A key part of a Lady Lion squad that posted its best overall record (19-11) since 1994-95 and its best-ever Southland Conference record (11-5), Mitchell was named to both the All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana teams following the 2008-09 campaign. A strong performer in the classroom, Mitchell also earned Southland Conference All-Academic accolades. Mitchell finished her two-year Southeastern career ninth on the program’s career list in both three-point field goals made (73) and three-point field goal percentage (.352).
Prior to her time at Southeastern, Mitchell was an All-Region XIV performer at Paris Junior College. A native of Tyler, Texas, Mitchell was a two-time All-District 12-5A and three-time Academic All-District selection during her prep career at Robert E. Lee High School.
Mitchell earned her Master’s degree in Health and Kinesiology in May of 2011 at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. |
