The Odessa College women’s basketball team enters the 2011-2012 season intent on returning the program to a championship level. After a slow start to the 2010-2011 season, the Lady Wranglers showed steady improvement throughout the season, ending with an exciting, but disappointing loss to rival Midland College to end the regular season, costing the Lady Wranglers a share of the WJCAC title. After an impressive quarterfinal win at the Region V tournament over Temple College, the Lady Wranglers ran out of steam in the semifinals, losing to an extremely talented Grayson County College team.
An influx of new talent will be led by a determined group of returners looking to leave their mark on the tradition rich women’s basketball program. The key to success this season will be how quickly the team blends its talents and finds the necessary chemistry to be successful. The Lady Wranglers will be tested early with a very challenging non-conference schedule that includes the second annual National Invitation Tournament hosted by Midland College in November and the return of the WJCAC Shootout in early December. |
