Pro Athletes - Ty Murray

College: Odessa College

High School: Deer Valley, Arizona

College: Coach Jim Watkins recruited Ty to come to Odessa College. Ty spent two wonderful years with the Wranglers before going to the Pros.

Pro career: Ty is a nine-time Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) world champion. Ty is also the only seven-time world champion all-around cowboy in professional rodeo history. Murray was also the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) reserve champion three years in a row. Ty has also won the PBR Bud Light Cup World finals. Murray has also won the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo average championship in both bareback riding and bull riding. Ty has twice won the PRCA world bull riding titles. Ty was also the PRCA/Resistol overall and bareback riding rookie of the year. Ty has been elected into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. Ty has retired from the rodeo scene taking with him more than three million dollars in career earnings, making him the winningest cowboy in history.

Fun Facts: Ty has been referred to as “The King of the Cowboys” and "Superman in boots". Ty was the youngest cowboy millionaire in rodeo history, a feat he accomplished at the age of 23. Murray is not only one of the original shareholders of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc, (PBR) but is also one of the founding members. Texas Monthly said, “Ty Murray is the Micheal Jordan of Rodeo and that’s no Bull.”
